Pallet Racking: Identifying Your Needs
Getting to know the different types of pallet racking is the best way to determine which type of pallet racking will work best for your specific warehouse needs. At Commander Warehouse, we carry a selection of different pallet racking systems and accessories that are perfect for a wide range of commercial and industrial uses.
Selective Pallet Racking
Selective pallet racking is the perfect warehouse storage system plants, shops, factories, or truck terminals. This type of pallet racking consists of two basic parts—upright frames and load beams—, making it extremely easy to erect, expand, and relocate for one warehouse location to another. Both the upright frames and load beams for this type of pallet racking are designed to lock together in a matter of minutes without the need for any tools. Selective pallet racking can be used for storing full pallets or for hand-stocking heavy products on plywood, oriented strand boards, or wire decking.
Push Back Pallet Racking
Push back pallet racking systems allow for high-density storage with the same versatility of drive-in pallet racking, as each lane flow is independent. This type of pallet racking system works on a last in, first out system, making it easy to retrieve pallets from the front of each rack. Each push back pallet racking system can be custom designed to hold two to six pallets deep with a height that is only restricted by the reach of the lift truck. This type of pallet racking is best used when placed against a wall or in back-to-back rows.
Drive In & Drive Thru Pallet Racking
Drive-in pallet racking systems are ideal for warehouses that utilize a higher number of skids with a lower number of product lines or where floor space is in high demand. This is because this type of pallet racking is designed to allow for fast moving products with each bay dedicated to a single product or lot number. Drive-in pallet racking systems are best used to help maximize storage space against building walls or columns and can be used for both cold storage and fragile skid loads.
Drive-thru pallet racking systems are essentially the same as drive-in pallet racking systems with the added bonus of faster product moving. Pallet loading and retrieval can easily be done from either end of pallet racking system, using a first-in/first-out system. Each drive-thru pallet racking system is individually designed to help create as much available floor space as possible.
